We have toured extensively in France and Germany for five years since we purchased our first caravan when we retired.
During this time we have either booked sites through the Caravan Club or found them from the internet. This does mean that we have had to stick to a rigid itinerary.
Next Year, in May/June, we are planning to do an eight week tour travelling as far as Naples in Italy and, because we would like to have more flexibility about the length of stay on a site, we are considering buying Camping Cheques. Are there any pro's and con's that we should be aware of with them? Is there a protocol not mentioned in the information book which is expected of the user? Is there any advice that caravanners can give us about campsites and the use of the cheques in Italy.
Nothing is fixed yet, we are only in the planning stage, but we will be using the Hull-Zeebrigge ferry and have decided to travel through Austria on the way. Perhaps staying at Innesbruck outbound and Saltzburg on the return (or maybe vice-versa).
Any help would be much apreciated.
