Campsite in Spain January

We are sailing into Santander on 21st January, arriving at 12.45pm. Does anyone know of a campsite which will be open around a couple of hours driving distance? We have used Camping Haro in the past, but this won't be open til the end of January. We will be en route to Mojacar.

This probably isn't much help to you but when I arrive in Santander in November it's already dark and about 6pm in the evening. I usually use Virgen del Mar which is only about 6 miles across the town from the port, or ten if you go by the motorway.

Looked it up but it shuts around 10th December til 1st March according to Caravan book. Thanks anyway, may use this one on our way back home.

For on route overnighting at that time of year, I suggest the autoway service areas on m/ways are as safe as anywhere. No crooks around then as too quiet and cold.
Advantage of dinning and rest facilities, plus company of truckers, give sense of security.

Don't know why it should say that. I was there in February last and it's website says it's open all the year. See it here:- http://campingvirgendelmar.com/en/ If you care to read about the site and see some pictures, it's mentioned towards the end of my blog:-
