Can’t get our fridge to work

Hi. We have just bought an old caravan with an Electrolux fridge. Model no RM4267. Trying to get it to work om electricity. We’ve connected power to caravan (240v) and I’ve switched the green switch on the front of fridge which is the 240v - the green light’s come on but nothings happening - I know the fridge works so I’m obviously missing something. Any tips? Thanks!

To discover whether the fridge is working, you might be able to use a plug in power meter like one of these.

Some fridges used a normal 13A plug where you might be able to use the meter or use it with your ehu 13A adaptor to pug in at home. Set it to Watts, and check to see if the Wattage increases when the fridge is turned on you should see the wattage increase by about 125W (+/- 10%).

As the green light works you know power is at least reaching the fridge, but if the power does not increase by 125, then it suggests either the element has failed or possibly the thermostatic switch may be faulty.
