Car insurance

Well I cant believe the phone call Ive just had.

went to get a quote for my car insurance renewal, had a few on line no problem, then contacted NFU mutual, how as I understand a few of you guys insure with.

My wife is a driving instuctor and as such they cannot give me a quote as it needs to be refered to the underwrighters, I pressed the woman on this to find out why and she said it was becauce my wife is on the road alot!!!

I told her she had passed more exams and tests than mr/mrs average, but thats not taken into account.

Im a HGV driver and cover up to 10 times more milage than her but my ocupation is ok??

Needless to say I havnt pusued this but if Clive V or any other insurance bod out there could explain I would be only too willing to listen.

4X4 insurance who do you insure with?

Kevin, you answered your own question.

Your wife is a driving instructor.

Whilst she may have pased many exams and tests, her pupils have not, in fact they have not yet passed the basic driving test, therefore as an insurer, they have to take that risk into consideration

Damian...I agree what you say is correct but only as far as the driving school car is concerned.

If the car being insured is not going to be driven by learners then there is no reason to penalise the policy holder just because his wife (presumably a named driver) happens to be a driving instructor.
