caravan alarm

I have a caravan alarm in the bailey pageant it is a I D M 3 alarm systems It has a position that says charging point is this to charge the alarm and do I need to get a charger for it and is it like a phone charger thank you john

John, I have one, already fitted to my van, preowned. It is hard wired into the battery, as i think you will find yours is, just trace the wires back from the button pad

Most IDMs are not wired into the main battery but rather to a seperate 12v battery otherwise all a thief does is disconnect trhe main battery and the alarm no longer works!

Surfer, I stand corrected, i knew it was wired in to the caravan, i'll have to go and look where the battery is, how does the battery get charged then? i have had my van for 4 years and still the same battery.

Normally it comes with a seperate charger which you plug into the mains. If it has not ben charged for awhile the battery is probably past its prime. The charger is a plug with the charge built in and then has a lead that plugs into the battery. I suspect that over time thsi has been lost.
The biggest issue we have with alarms where ther is a PIR, is that yoiu have to disconnect the PIR to rpevent the alarm sounding off every few minutes on a hot day when you have possibily left soem vents open.

Both the late IDM2, and IDM3, are connected to the caravan battery, there is also a back up battery inside the alarm unit.
If you keep the leisure battery in the caravan, you don't need the plug in charger.
