Caravan Christmas/New Year

We have been talking about spending Christmas and/or New Year in our caravan; however we live in South Yorkshire and wonder if there are any caravanners who have been to a site in this area at this time. Is it better to go as part of a group? Your comments would be appreciated.

Hi Eileen

We're not far from you (E.Cheshire)but we tend to head a little way south to get weather a little bit milder. Even 50 mil;es seems to make a difference but then we are on the inclement side of the hills. We also consider where is easy to get to ie not miles of tiny lanes but rather making as much use as poss of M-ways as we often get loads of white stuff around Christmas/New Year. We tend to choose a club site as everyone is really friendly at Christmas and you can join in or do your own thing as and when over the break.

Have a great Christmas...hope it stops raining by then.

Hi Eileen, we have been away for Xmas for the past two years, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately we will only able to spend New Year away this year, I have just booked 27th Dec - 1st Jan at Sandringham, there's no need to be part of a group IMO! :O)
