This week I have given my van a good clean out side but do you think I can get the handles clean, no, they are the handles that you maneuver the van about, the front two are a gray white color but I think the gray is dirt.

I have tried Jif or is it Cif and it did remove some grime but not looking as good as the van body.

Any idea's ?

The black streaks that run down a caravan are easily removed by using a proprietary brand of caravan shampoo such as Fenwicks which is available from caravan accessory shops.

Wash the caravan, use a spray bottle to spray diluted shampoo over the bodywork and on stubborn black streaks use a little undiluted shampoo.

Wash the caravan in the normal way, for a bit of added sparkle use Fenwicks Bobby Dazzler as per directions and use a leather to dry off.

To restore the colour of the handles if all else fails the gently application of a little T cut before re polishing might do the trick but be careful because caravan paint is very thinly applied.

Sir Roger, Fenwicks is a Cheshire based company, A good few years ago on a big winter rally in Cheshire Fenwicks had a trade stand. Near to the close of the rally one of there reps went round the vans demonstrating their black streak remover, we had to show him that Mr Sheen polish did the job just as good. His reaction was keep your ff--ing mouths shut.J.Lo.

Hi, surely there is only one "f" in Fenwicks ----- mr sheen should not be mentioned in the same breath as Fenwick's especially on this forum.---- Rog I'm so surprised at you suggesting that our moderators can be bought so cheaply but hey ho you must be used to that sort of thing mixing in such exsolted circles as you apparently do------but getting back to the real question if Reg. rings or e-mails the office 01270 524111 we will be able to help with the vexed question of black/dirty caravan grab handles and the cause of the problem .

BORAX

That's the only soap product that was made in the Black Country as far as I know Sir Rog.

I normally use Fenwicks cleaning products on our caravan because in common with many other experienced caravanners I've found that it works, Sir Rog.

Please be assured that I pay for my cleaning materials and clean my own caravan, if I decide to offer genuine advice or recommend a product that I have used it is done freely.

Moderators of this forum receive a complimentary copy of the Practical Caravan magazine every month as a reward for our efforts in trying to ensure that this forum continues to thrive and help caravanners and that is the sum total of any form of recompense for the time that we donate to the forum.

Are you sure that you're not thinking of different forum Sir Rog?

I agree with Bear - The Aldi Caravan cleaner is brilliant - it's also very good at cleaning alloy wheels

A caravan cleaner I am definitely not!!!!!

However I did purchase a bottle of bobby dazzler earlier this year and after getting the van out of storage to prepare for our first trip couple weeks ago I washed it with Fenwicks cleaner and then splashed it with the aforementioned. Very impressed in fact my next pitch neighbor who was standing on the bonnet of his car to apply polish of all things to his van asked me how I got such shine. Just hated to tell him what a doddle it all was!
