I joined CC in 1967 when I bought my first caravan, and for many years used their sites exclusively ( I have 100+ plaques which you could buy at each site in those days- not sure if you can now. Caravan and care were insured through CC as well.

Later I got grumpy and preferred adults only sites. Also we use the on board facilities and thus don't need a toilet block. The CC website for CLs enabes you to choose EUU, adults only, near a pub, fishing and all sorts of other choices and this is what we now use.

We also take CC red Pennant travel insurance for our regular European trips and on the two occaisions we have had to contact them we got a first class service. Both were non-critical matters requiring spares but the follow up was superb.

In recent years I think CC has somewhat lost the plot about it's origins and original purpose and seems now to be venturing into more and more commercial areas which are not of basic benefit to members. In all these years i have only once had to complain about the attitude of the wardens which is certainly a better record than my nights in hotels when travelling widely on business, If weekend rallies are for you then those of the CC that I have been to were very well organised and run - if you belong to a local centre you can go to rallies organised by other centres which is often a good way of getting to some attraction or festival in an economic and efficient way.

Join both for the first year. Alternate your site use between the two, then come renewal time you may have a distinct preference.
