Caravan lights ..(.Extereior)

Hi All Techies.

NIce one here for you.

I tow my Ace Supreme with a Daewoo Musso , it would seem that all side lights on the van pick up there power from the rear side lights from the Musso hence yesterday travelling home I had a 10amp fuse blow on the Musso .

Would it possibly neeed a higher ampage fuse to put this right ,as I never had this problem on our previous van towing with the same vehicle . I would appreciate your thoughts on this .

Regards Stewart

Vehicle side lights are normally split between left and right, with two fuses - this split between left/right should be replicated in the caravan wiring.

Each side of the caravan should have four bulbs (front sidelight, high marker light, rear sidelight and number plate) so 4x 6w = 24w = 2amps - add in the car's own sidelights 3x6w, that's still only 3.5 amps. Even if, perversely, both sides are wired through the same fuse, thats only 7 amps, for which a 10 amp fuse is appropriate.

DON'T use a high power fuse - there's a problem that needs sorting. Sadly, I can't suggest what it is - you'll need to thoroughly check the caravan and car wiring.

Roger , many thanks for that I have now narrowed things down somewhat so I am just waiting for the rain to stop and Ill go digging around.

Thanks again Stewart
