Caravan Mover, Electrical trip

Afternoon all,

I have an Emove fitted on my Swift Sprite Major 6TD, and its recently became a little temperamental with regards to manoeuvring off the controller, whereby the caravans internal mains unit trips out. It initiates a move for ~5 seconds before it cuts out.

Could someone share any reasons as to why this may be happening, prior to me contacting a specialist/ electrician?

Thank you,

Welcome to the forum.

Why would you try to use the mover with the mains connected? Having said that, they are two unrelated circuits, so it should not cause a trip.

I think you may have provided us with an ambiguous description by usings the phrase "internal mains unit trips out". Are you referring to the 230Vac mains trip? or something else?

As Jcloughie has suggested, the mover should have no effect on the 230V ac mains systems.

If I assume you are actually referring to the movers control unit rather than 230V ac RCD or MCB's then there are a couple of reasons why you might have the type of problems you have reported.

Firstly the battery needs to be well charged otherwise under the load the movers motors cause, the battery voltage may fall below the minimum voltage the mover needs to see.

Otherwise, do make sure the brakes are not on when trying to use the mover, or perhaps the motors need a service,

And of course its possible the control circuit might be faulty.

Wasn’t there a thread in here recently describing a similar problem and it appeared that the battery was somehow discharging? Folks wondered if it could have been due to a smart alternator or something like that?

Edit. This one

The remote shows when its battery is getting low. If the battery is OK only the red LED for the direction you are moving the van lights up: if the battery is low ALL of the red LEDs light up when any button is pressed.
