I have an Ace Award Tristar (2007) and the front panel(GRP) is turning yellow on the corners of the change of section - ie around the grab handles, side light, gas bottle lid etc.It appears like yellow lines.

Obviously this has been happening over a period of time - but thought I would get it sorted when serviced before the 3 year warranty ran out,as have been told that the original paint thickness was insufficient.

However - Swift only give 12 months warranty on paint!!(and a load of other things are exempted after the first year) and do not want to know.

Has anyone else had a paint problem with their front panel?.

It is not fading by the sun/weather.Can the external surface be re-painted?

Hi Graham, i was just about to post on the same topic!

I have a 2005 Geist, and the GRP on the front is starting to yellow on the edges, i have seen some posts about people having the fronts re laquered, i was wandering is there a polish or treatment that can be used, i seem to recall an Autoglym product called "Resin Treatment?"

i had a dulling/yellowing front panel on my 2002 compass and used farleca gel coat restorer (after being told about it on here) and its brilliant!!!

i used all types of autoglymn/megs products with next to no results

used the gel coat restorer back to bright white with good shine again

not the easiest polish to use but great results then wax/top coat polish over the top for protection

easyer to find in boat chandlers as its a marine product tho

Hi,Steve,

thanks for your reply- similar to yourself - it is not an 'all-over'problem just yellow lines appearing on the edges of the places where fitments are attached.

I will look out for the 'Resin Treatment' as I will try anything to remove them!!

Graham.

sorry for my late reply here lol

but as you found it just needs more elbow grease than a conventional car polish does

did you apply a top coat wax to protect your panel after using the gel coat restorer?

i used a meguires carnuba wax and still very very good shine on it

Hi,Steve & Rob,

I received yesterday my 'Farecla Marine Gel Coat Restorer & Wax'.

Just tried it now on one of the yellow 'bits' on the front panel.

Brilliant!! back to white and leaves a good shine.

Now I have the whole panel to do!!

Thank you all for the help/advice - greatly appreciated.

Graham.

Steve,

Forget about the previous note about Yellow stain remover -that was for something else!

Could not follow your exact link - but got onto 'Bosun's Locker' from your link - somehow - and ordered the Gel Coat Restorer from them. (
