caravan service

Hi

HA PY are mobile servicing - I think they are linked with Wandaholme at Ferrybridge M62/A1 junction. Our previous caravan got serviced by Wandaholme - really helpful team

Why?

There is no reason to as such....unless your van is still under warranty then make sure you use AWS approved.

NCC are not approved as such, but AWS are and can carry out warranty work etc, where I believe NCC cant.

I know Damian will be able to confirm exactly who can do what (if he spots this thread)

Could you let us know what the abbreviation AWS means please? It's good to know who is who for those of us who may be slightly at a loss when faced with letters which to the layman are meaningless.

p.s. I know that you are one of the 'good guys' ;0)
 
AWS is the abbreviation for Approved Workshop Scheme, which is run by the National Caravan Council in association with both the main clubs.

Their aim is to ensure a standard of servicing which is acceptable and standardised throughout the industry and apart from the manufacturers own trained workshops, can carry out servicing and repairs and maintain the warranty and guarantees on the van and equipment.

There are a couple of companies claiming to be members of the National Caravan Council, but not of the AWS, who claim to be able to do the same as an AWS, they cannot.

So, for peace of mind, and for your own protection, make sure whoever touches your van is an Approved Workshop Scheme member.

ASK to see their current Membership Certificate.
 
Thanks for the information and advice Damian. As you know I will be looking for a mobile service engineer to sort out my fridge gas burner and it helps to know what to look out for.

My caravan is now coming up to it's third service in October and I'm seriously considering having it done by a reputable mobile engineer because the caravan is now stored under cover and can be worked on there.

This will save on the expense of travelling to and from the West Midlands to Weston Super Mare not to mention paying less than

Hi - just to clarify NCC (National Caravan Council)

AWS (Approved Workshop Scheme)

These abbrevations are not two different associations to have your service carried out with.

The NCC are the independent bodies who access all AWS to comply to manufactures specications and to make sure that all AWS are fully qualified in carrying out your service!

If your caravan still has manufactures warranty you can use any AWS to carry out this service to make sure that your manufactures warranty is still valid!

Some AWS can also carry out warranty work - for some manufactures also - but in some cases you would have to take your caravan back to a dealership for any warranty work to be carried out!
