Hi all has anyone noticed site fees are going up you do expect a little but a site I used to go regular in 2019 was £12 in winter and £19 in summer, new owners took over in 2020 and now the fees jumped to £26 a night all year round,,

Not surprising is it given the impact of Covid. If you look at other holiday prices you will see rises well above inflation. I expect to see it in hospitality outlets too. Your choice is pay or look elsewhere.

Some sites have gone up to £35 per night i still think it very reasonable we would pay to each is own

Most of the CL's I've booked for this year have kept their prices as last year - we all need to accept that price rises aren't profiteering as sites, like many other businesses, have had fixed costs but no income for most of a year.

One estimate is that Covid will cost the UK £400 billion - that's over £6,000 per person so we're going to pay in lots of ways in future.

Yes the site fees are going up, I have noticed this over the last couple of years, with the private sites offering more fully serviced pitches, at less prices than the two main clubs. And normally in a nicer situation for us, ie walking distances to pubs and towns. 1/2 mile.

Simple. Avoid using the site unless they have done massive improvements to justify the increased price. They may then get the message.

They might also have taken a mortgage to buy the site, then when business disappeared due to Covid they may have had to take out a loan to support themselves. Being in the hospitality business this last 12 months has undoubtedly been an extremely difficult time. Prices will undoubtedly rise and businesses will fail. Debts will go unpaid and lives will be affected. Hopefully with the large number of people taking up caravan, motorhomes and camping and Europe looking “ iffy” business will start to prosper again and the normal laws of economics can once again prevail in 2022 and beyond.

Possibly the sites had a bad year in 2020 and need to make up some of the income lost. The CAMH said at one time they were going to be down £17 million. Less stable operations might need to up the income to cover the losses but yes rates do look higher this year.

Of course its down to personal choice and if you personally feel a sites fees are to high for what you get then by all means don't use them, but given the rigors of the last 12 months its hardly surprising that sites will need to recoup lost revenue to cover the ongoing costs they incurred during lockdown.

i have notice site fees are going up because we have been trying Adult Park with the Camping and caravan club and sometimes they come with hardstanding service pitch and we don"t mind paying if it helps the club out
