Caravanning magazine growth

Watched "working lunch" programme today and apparently caravan magazines have some of the fastest growing sales in the magazine industry at the moment.

All this while the "boyz toyz" and female mags sectors are dropping back.

BUT - I thought a caravan was a boys toy, it is mine anyway!

And a similar news article on Radio 4 Today programme early this morning - about how none of the publishers seem to be taking risks with new titles in innovative directions, preferring to let focus groups tell them what they already like and not trying to find the new cash cow.

As my father was a senior figure in Fleet Street, and through him I'd met a few of the ABC people, it's a fascinating commentary on how their current counter parts want to play it safe, avoiding blame, but lose any real chance of success...

I'm not surprised that there is a growth in caravan magazines as there has been a growth in caravan sales. When I first got involved I read everything.

Now the CC magazine barely gets a look and that's free. There is a limit to what you can write about caravans before you have to start repeating it all over again.
