Caravans without a shower

Hi everyone, are there caravans without a shower. We find that we will never use a shower in the caravan as we only go to sites with facilities. Seems like a waste of space. Obviously a toilet would still be needed.

We will look for a new caravan this year and wondering if there are any with a toilet but no shower.

Thanks. In advance

There's still a few caravans where the shower is where you stand by the toilet with a curtain round it - not very practical but may suit your needs

I think it most unlikely that you will find a mainstream caravan without a shower but there are two options. Buy one where the shower is incorporated in the toilet and using it requires a curtain to control where the water goes. But you don’t need to use it. Alternatively have one with a separate shower enclosure excellent for hanging wet outdoor gear.

A caravan with a wet room such as a Sprite Alpine 4 is as close as you are going to get. However a shower cubicle is very handy for things like transporting the Aquaroll or storing the dirty washing basket.
Also before you completely decide, do like at all the fantastic CLs that don’t have toilets and showers ( or these are minimal). You will be missing out on all these.

A new Sprite compact has a shower with a curtain .the only other one that might not have a shower is Freedom caravan.

BTW, if you want to look for Caravans that just have a wet room, you can search by layout on Caravanfinder. The size of the “bathroom” cubicle will give you an idea

Some of smaller european caravans don't have shower.
Not sure what issue is with having shower that you don't need. Ours is wet room(curtain) version, only used it couple times but nice to have option.

There is also the consideration of how resalable a caravan without a shower would be on the UK market?
The makers seem to think they need install them, using up valuable space and increasing build costs.

Thankfully were are all different - how boring if were all exactly the same. So its perfectly alright for someone to not want a shower in a caravan, they may be in a minority but that does not mean their choice is wrong.

Caravan manufacturers cannot make a caravan to every individuals specific needs, they have to look at the market trends, and chose a range of facilities that will meet the widests possible market acceptance. Bathrooms with showers probably fall into that majority desire, so most caravans manufactured to day will include a shower.

It is of course up to the individual customer if they choose to use the facility or not. They may chose to use the space differently, but that is their entirely their prerogative, and as long as it does not affect anyone else or cross a legality we should not be criticising their choices.

Since 1999 all of our caravans have had showers, but predominantly we used site facilities where available even on CL/CS. The last time we used the van's shower was in May 2021 when at a CL in Hutton Le Hole when the CL owner decided to shut the showers, and that was just at the time when "Covid Freedom Day" was imminent. To add insult to injury the local pub also decided not to offer food inside on or post Freedom Day. On top of that the weather was dire and the dog's got the trots. We decided to sell the van a couple of months later, as that holiday came on top of several cancelled for family reasons including one to the Continent in 2018 at less than one weeks notice...

This was the journey north for our overnight stop. to Yorkshire.....one of the better days!!!

My first caravan in 1978 had a broom cupboard which was just wide enough for the Porta Potti 55. No shower but I guess one could have been fitted.
Similarly for the OP it will not be too difficult to remove the shower tray, door and shower head. Use it as a cupboard and reinstall the shower when selling on.

Count your blessings. We had to use nearby rivers for a wash if the leopard wasn't hanging around. Our toilet was either a nearby tree or for the number two, an ant bear hole.

Have you ever seen someone trying to run with their trousers around their ankles when the occupier of the ant bear hole objected and exited the hole in a hurry. LOL!
