Carver 2000 Fanmaster

Hi folks,

I'm hoping that someone might be able to help me with the Carver 2000 Fanmaster that has decided to stop working on mains supply.

The 12 volt fan works OK as does the gas side of the heater, but when switched to mains nothing. Mains is coming into the heater, but nothing is reaching the elements. When I move the slider that sets the room tempreature, I can hear the thermostat clicking on and off and the fan starts to slow down or speed up, according to its position.

So any one out there have any ideas as to what could ahve gone wrong with it. I did ask the repairs to look at it, but they didn't. So like most things do it yourself.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Ian.

First, is the mains isolation switch 'on' and the fuse intact.

Second, is the 'kettle' type plug at the bottom of the control box on the back 'in', they due tend to fall out!

Third, are all the lights working correctly on the slide switch?

Forth possible is the elements are duff but doubtful both are.

Hi,

Thanks for all the tips, I have checked all that you mention, only one of the lights is not working on the slider.

There is a large box of tricks behind the heater, I can see using a mirror, as of course they never fit anything so its easy to get at, as the heater is below 2 draws, where the wires come through to the elements, plus has the wires going to the slider switch etc.

I am at present assuming that this is at fault and controls I assume the elements, fan etc. As you say unlikely that both elements are duff.

I have put a meter on the power switch to the heater and that has mains coming in and out of it. So.......................

Thanks for your help.

Ian.
