Carver Cascade Rapide GE Water Heater

Would much appreciate anyone telling me how to egt the heater to work on electric only. The instruction book which came with the caravan does not explain clearly (for me!) I've had it working but last week when we went I couldn't get it to waork. Unfortunately there is not a light to show that the heater is on for electric - only gas or 12v. I changed the fuse in the separate heater switch which is placed next to the gas and 12v control plate but no difference. Would like to use this for Easter if poss. Thank you.

Ann,

Did you drain down and forget to turn off the mains power?

If I remember correctly there is a reset butt on the end of the heater. Perhaps this has tripped out.

Good luck

Jim

It does sound as if you forgot to switch it off last time and now it's tripped out?

Often people pull the hookup out leaving the heater switched on in the van and then drain the tank. Alls well with this as long as the heaters refilled with water before hooking up, however the hookups always first and the element is then on without any water in the tank!!

To save damage the heater has an over temperature thermostat, this trips and needs to be reset manually, better though to remember to switch the heater off.

You will find the red reset button poking out of the end of the heater nearest your feet, if a 99/2000 model it will have a little flap over the button which you need to pull out of the way to expose the button.

Turn mains supply off at the switch before you press the reset.
