We have a caravan fitted with a Carver motor mover (very old!). The controls are not remote but linked by a coiled flex. Does anyone know where we can get spares (if at all) as the cable doesn't appear to be working. Many thannks.

That'll be a MK1 mover. I have had the very same unit since 1999 though I changed the controller to the remote wireless unit when it was released. When that box failed I changed the electronics to the latest soft start version. I still have the original box, cable and remote up in the loft collecting dust. If you're stuck I see no better reason for it being made useful again!

Thanks for replies, been away this weekend so just catching up. I'm going to ring the local caravan repairer today to see what they say. How easy was it to change over the electrics? Thats a very kind offer, thank you.

If I recall correctly the original box had ring connectors on the power and motor feeds, the newer units have spade connectors. I simply chopped the original connectors off then crimped, soldered and insulated the new connectors (using heat shrink tubing) Probably take a couple of hours max to do the wireless conversion though while I was at it I also moved the control box from the gas locker to a more electronics friendly position close to the battery locker, tucked away under one of the beds.

There are single axle SOFT START REMOTE CONTROL UNITS on ebay at the moment item number 360171547819 - I have no connection with this seller though it may be where my box came from as the name looks familiar.

As we are hoping to go to Cornwall in 2 weeks then think that sounds a bit ambitious for us - need father-in-laws help there! Do you think we could buy your original 'in the attic' model from you and pay the postage? Thanks

That one looks a bit cleaner than ours!! We're in south cumbria so anywhere is a journey :) but we're used to it.
Clean as it didn't get that much use before being upgraded. South Cumbria to Cornwall, that's a bit of a trek. West Midlands to Cornwall is far enough thanks, did that last year!

I'll keep a lookout for an email from you, in amongst the junk that turns up to get automatically binned.
