carver2 water heater

Hi, when i tried to remove the drain plug on my carver 2 water heateron my Swift Corniche (1993) it snapped of leaving the broken piece inside also when i fully removed the heater i noticed the cold water connection was broken off resulting in a damp patch.

can this heater be repaired i dont want to try to remove the broken pieces in case i do any dammage.

Rosanne, It should be possible to remove the drain plug. Using a fine hacksaw blade or file carefully cut along the length of the plug to a depth of the threads of the casting. Do this in two positions opposite each other. It should then be possible to lever one half out with a flat blade screw driver and then the other. I have not had to remove the cold input but I am sure that with care it can be done .

Hi, this design of drain plug is very difficult to obtain, i have the same type of system, Duncans caravans in Wishaw scotland can still get this type of plug but they cant give a definate date of delivery. Does anyone else know of any other stockists??

As for a replacement drain bung, later bungs after June 87 are freely available, it's the early ones that are not. However a standard '1/2" BSP Brass flanged stop end' from any plumbers merchant, (in conjunction with the normal 'O' ring), does the job perfectly.

if these drain plugs are freely available could you please tell me where to get them!!! cos i,m struggling to get them, the only ones i have seen are the ones with the four prongs and not the other type.
