Central heating while away??

Hi there

Can anyone advise re: leaving central heating/hot water on whilst away for 3 months. As we will be away during the winter in deepest Scotland the worry is that if we leave it off the pipes will freeze. What do you do??

Just had a month away, and we set the heating/water to come on at normal heat for two hours morning and night, we have done this for the past fifteen years and been okay.
