have acquired a new awning light for my van, the one on the van has been scorched by the wrong wattage bulb.
Has anyone changed one, need to know about the electrical wires, are the connections slipped in behind the light
inside the wall panel, will they pull out for accessibility, there is no cupboard on the inside just the panel.

At the very worst you could cut the old wires as long as possible and slide some heat shrink over & then solder the new ones back to the old ones & the slide the heat shrink over the joint for insulation :(

You know it's easy ;)

Is it an identical light? - If it is I would guess it will just be a swap over. Did one a few years back (albeit on an Abbey) with a direct replacement and it was a straight swap over. Just ensure the waterproofing is not disturbed, if it is - make good. (You know all about water ingress Kev!)

Yes Sir it is an identical light, I could just replace the plastic covers and have done with it, BUT talking of water ingress ..........yes you guessed it ........ the inside of the van is reading over 30% so I want to take the old one off and replace and reseal with the new one and start from scratch.
I didnt mention the damp as you would all think I was making it up what with all my past problems

......should be a straight swap Kevin but if it is anything like Swift, the wires you are connecting to, will have a completely different confusing colour code. There should be plenty of wire to work with though.
What sort of bulb is fitted to your new light?......the way to go is LED as you get a much brighter light and no heat at all is given off.
My exterior light used two normal bulbs rated at 5 watts each.
I now use one LED bulb rated at 1watt and the light given off is 2x brighter than the 2 normal bulbs with no heat at all.

Hi Bill, yes trying to go down the LED route, ordered one but it dont fit :( :(
The chappie at the supplier is trying to source one that will fit, sent him photos of the new light and the bulb so he can compare. The bulb is currently 10 watt.

All done folks, put the new one on today, piece of cake, inside the van hidden by the plates was a blanking plug with direct access to the wires, :)
The ends were different but popped to local electrical wholesaler for two spade ends they come in boxes of 100!!
He took two out and gave them to me :woohoo: then went to buy the crimper else where and the local shop didnt have any in stock,, here you go borrow these and bring them back when you have finished, (I did take them Back).
I live in a nice place :) with nice people :cheer:
Also got the new LED bulb to fit.
