charging leisure battery

I have a spare 110amp battery which I want to take with me on a long stay at a festival field (without elec)....question is can I charge the spare up in my garage, off the caravan, using either a car battery charger, or an Oxford Optimate?

Phil, yes you can, and it will probably do more good for the battery being given a really good charge up to 14.8v

It is always advisable to give leisure batteries a proper charge away from the van as van chargers are limited to 13.8v at most to ensure the battery cannot "gas".

Damian . Im glad you have taken up this thread as I was starting to get concerned about my battery.

I have never really had it go flat but normally after the winter I bring it up to charge on my 11 amp charger.

Now this battery was on my first caravan when I started up some 8 years ago.

The morrel of this story is I think charge up at home on a normal battery charger must have done mine some good .How much longer it will go .......Who knows

Sir Roger
