chassis no location****urgent*****

hello i have just bought an 1989 swift challenger 390/2se and have just got the caravan insured

they have asked me for a chassis number from the van and have looked everywhere on the a frame on the side of the door underneath the van everywhere i dont suppose anyone knows where i can find it as i have only seven days before they cancel my insurance

On a van of that age there will not be the now conventional 17 digit number but a much shorter serial number.

Normally they ar either on a plate riveted to the outside by the entrance door, or above the door inside, or on an adjacent surface.

You could email or phone Swift customer services and ask if they know where it would be.

My brother had a similar problem finding a chasis number it turns out the van was stolen. A caravan service engineer pointed out where it had been filed off. I hope this is not the case with your van.

I am not sure about your particular Swift.... but look on top of the A frame just behind the hitch...often under the handbrake lever.

Pull the lever up to have a look.........
