Chassis numbers

Hi all,
i have a lunar preimere 516, with no cris regisation, I have a chassis number which is 8 digits long ending in 96 ( which I am told is the year of manufacture) it gas been hpi checked and cris says that it not know to them.
My question is I am having trouble insuraning the van because of the lack of cris number and the chassis number is to short. The chassis was made by tw chassis in Preston and is 8 digits long is this right .
Any help or suggestions

Have a look at this for an explanation of the CRIS sytem which has been in operation since 1992.

Have you spoken direct to Lunar?
TW Chassis started in 1981 and had a close working relationship with Lunar who are just around the corner?
Have you also spoken to the Caravan Club Insurance department? As far as I am aware it is not mandatory to be CRIS registered with an older model which may have been made before CRIS became compulsory.

Dusty is correct CRIS registration is not a legal requirement, or mandatory for insurance. Ratehr than try filling and online form, speak to the likes of the CC /CCC or vist a broker where you speak to a person not a machine.

The problem is Cris is required by the vast majority of insurance companies including CC/CCC as a way of tracking the caravan in event of theft or a claim.
Lesson learnt, I knew nothing about cris when we brought the caravan and brought it off a friend who I trust, the caravan club offer a free check for caravans

There must be a lot of pre 1996 caravans out there that aren't insured.Thinky thingy.
Have you spoken to CRIS for a retro registration and etching kit.? I assume you can prove good legal title to the Lunar?

Hi i have just received my CRIS form with our new caravan a Elddis Crusader Super Sirocco Twin Axle and we are first owner"s from new . .
it certainly change now you get card with your details ..
Regards

My previous caravan was from Europe and not Cris registered when i bought it. However, a phone call sorted all this out and I bought Cris registration and an easy etching kit for the windows, fitted a CC approved alarm and all was well. Suggest you talk with them and hopefully sort it out.
