Cheapest Ferry Rout To France

I have just checked the Brittany Ferries Price for 2 adults, 2 dogs and a car and caravan leaving mid October returning mid Decamber £560.............

Can anyone recomend a cheaper alternative?

We are travelling to Spain but the spanish ferry is to long if the weather is bad.

Dover Calais is cheapest, but it's then a very long way to Spain.

We crossed the Bay of Biscay on the Pride of Bilbao in a force 8-9 with the ship slamming into every wave. Kids were 4, 7, & 10 at the time. No puking, and a good night's sleep. It is a massive ship, and will cope with almost anything. It does not roll very much, because of its stabilisers.
