What’s the problem with Von Haus being made in China? It’s a respected make, retailed by many reputable British outlets. I don’t understand this paranoia against items made in China. I bet if you did a domestic, caravan and car inventory you will find numerous items made in China , all of which are doing their job perfectly well.

My Alko mower has a Chinese engine, and given seven years faultless service.
I do not recall stating that there was a problem with it being manufactured in China so please do not jump to conclusions..

What isn't these day
As per posts in another thread. The name can give the impression that it is made in Germany. Pity there is no legislation that enforces the seller to state country of origin. The consumer is then better informed and can make a decision based on their preferences.

Looking at a replacement Truma Ultrastore element a few weeks back I found exactly what I wanted, £100 cheaper than the Truma oem.

I discussed it with my AWS engineer. A big NO!

Sold on E bay made in China, five year warranty . Very tempting. He said never fit non oem bits to a gas appliance.
So why are the Chinese making such a specialist part that is probably not a high volume seller?
Sadly MG is no longer from Abingdon more Shanghai😥

There is a growing caravan market in China so perhaps they have copied Truma OEM appliances and their components, and in parallel decided to market the parts elsewhere.

In Oz in 2021 40% of RV sales were Chinese imports.

I suppose kicking the tyre is no longer compliant🤪
You need a British Standard foot, safety boot, and it must be done at sea level with an ambient temperature of between 21 and 25C and barometric pressure of 775mmHg with humidity not exceeding 75%RH with no precipitation. The boots toe cap must contact the tyre must on the forward facing side of the tyre 3.1/4 inches from the floor, with a velocity of 3ft per second in the horizontal component. the bounce back must be measured, and the distance read off the table of pressure bounce back values for make and model of tyre.

Buy using the prefered method you can assess the pressure in the tyre with a precision of about +/- 30 psi on Wednesdays or +/-40 psi every other day

Back in the seventies in South Africa we would only buy British made goods as quality was superb. It took SA several years to produce similar quality goods. No goods imported from China.

In the 1970s there were very few, if any, goods from China imported in to Britain either, with the exception of some items from Hong Kong.
