Chipped rear panel repair

New to the forum, but have viewed many articles in the past.

On cleaning the caravan roof today I found a number of punctures in the plastic rear panel. Underneath it looks like fibre glass and the plastic top is a little brittle at those holes.

As it’s the roof portion that nobody will see, what’s the best repair method? Epoxy or sikaflex.

Thanks for any input you give.

Fibreglass panels I use Isopon P40, which has fibres in it to bridge the gap. then use Brilliant white gloss colour on spray paint(Hycote Gloss White 400ml) ( blended in , a bit time consuming but gives a better finish as getting a smooth finish with sikaflex adhesive sealant is a lot harder

That's excellent thanks. I guess its a case of masking the area off a little, shoving as much of the stuff into the chip as you can and then smoothing the top off. Once set light sanding and spray, For the size of these chips (around 8mm dia.) I'm tempted to used a touch up pen.

We had an Elddis go like this on the top of the back panel . As you will see they are not chips but pushed up by pressure from underneath. Ours was caused but damp and then frost freezing it and lifting. I would check with a damp meter internally at that area. Unless something is screwed internally in that area with screws to long.

I agree, 1 spot was visibly raised.

I will drill that open, fill it with the rest. I don’t see anything visible inside. As it doesn’t have a timber frame I’m hoping if these get sealed up it will dry up if damp.

I’ll then have to monitor to try and identify and ongoing

Do I need to use a primer before painting, if so what do you recommend.

Clean the area around the damage lightly with a fine wet and dry sandpaper to give filler and paint a good surface to key to.
Cheers, I sanded the area immediately around the hole and cleaned further out.

When I sand it down to to a raised finish I’ll prime a large area and spray it. Never done any of this before, good job it’s on the top as it will probably look pretty naff lol.

I’ve purchased this tin Gloss white from their page they list suitable primers as

HYCOTE SPRAYPAINT PRIMERS [XUK452 – 454], HYCOTE BODYSHOP ACRYLIC PRIMERS [XUK425 – 427]

I can only find the 425-427 range when I search online which is grey, red, white.

Those with experiance do you recommend going with a grey or white primer?
