Hi folks

Ok has anyone tried having a holiday in their caravan over the festive period with kids? (10 and 15)

We are thinking about going for a couple weeks, just for something completely different and extremely random

Any nice places that are open full season which have great Christmas days included or does it really wind down during this period?

I suppose we could also set up at a site and book somewhere for a nice Christmans meal...

I know, it's such a brain fart of an idea but we thought what the heck!!

We had one Xmas away and it was good, but our preference was to have Xmas at home when we all either eat in, or go out for a meal, and then we would take our grandchildren away over New Year. It gave the parents a break so they could go out, and we aranged a meal out on New Years Eve with the grandkids.

If you are thinking of eating Christmas lunch out then places are booking up early around us, and prices around us in a nice pub are £85-90 per head. This year is a novelty as two grandkids are cooking us all lunch at our house. Which still leaves me mega washing up no doubt.

We went to Bolton Abbey CMC site when our kids were younger 7 and 9 ish. Initially it was to get away from the outlaws/in-laws and all the stress of visits etc. We really enjoyed it and even had a light dusting of snow. Lots of quality family time, walks and food. Didn’t cook a Christmas dinner but had an all day buffet and went out for Boxing Day lunch as much cheaper.

Went back to normal the following year but since then choose to go away over New Year from about 27/28th till 2 Jan ready for a return to work.
