We are staying at the Sandringham CC site and getting to Norfolk from Ciren is always a pain. Anyone got a good route?

Hi Mike and Gill, you are right it does seem a bind. Checked on Autoroute and they reccoment going around the m25 and up the M11 tocambridge and acroos to Kings Lynn, However Via Michelin reccommend a straight route via a34, m40,a43,m1,a45, a605 to peterborough a47 to kings Lynn. This looks the straightest line on the map. Still I am not sure which is the best route, good look with your choice and enjoy your holiday - ALB

We are coming to your neck of the woods in another couple of weeks and will be using the A47 route via Peterborough. Try to avoid using the A14 unless absolutely neccessary, it's a complete nightmare, particularly weekdays.

Did most of this drive a few years ago

. Cirencester to Burford to Chipping Norton to Anyho to A 43.to Northampton A45 to A14 Thrapston A14 to Cambridge A10 or A11 into Norfolk alot of dual carrageway. But why go to Norfolk when Suffolk is so much better.

Hi David

Have to agree, love Suffolk and have spent the last four years holidaying there, at Southwold, so we thought to give North Norfolk a try as we enjoy bird watching as well as walking. Its so nice to walk miles without a slope in sight. Having lived in the Cotswold for 14 years and before that in the Yorkshire Dales, its great to walk on level ground!! We are begining to look at new (to us) areas with a view to retiring there in a few years and flat areas are difinitely begining to appeal.

Thanks to everyone who has replied to this post. I will get the map out tonight and start route planning. Don't want the Sat nav to lead us to a narrow cul de sac in the middle of nowhere!

Dont tell Norfolk Mike but I have a soft spot for the north Norfolk coast, if you want to see it at its best try a northerly gale in winter, we go up there just for that. But also try fish and chips at Wells harbough. As for living there you will need deep pockets but come inland look at towns like Holt, Swaffham and Fakenham, and if that fails try Mid Suffolk Eye to Stowmarket. as for hills you can always jion the local mountain rescue team, they live in pubs and await callouts, a happy lot

Property is alot more expensive in Holt than Fakenham or Swaffham, it's more of a hang out for the rich and famous. Even the local Budgens stock is far superior to that of other supermarkets - it says something doesn't it!!
