Neil, if you go onto the caravan club website there is a facility there for you to source CLs and enter your specific requirements eg. dog friendly, hook up etc.You are fortunate because there is a good choice in the Yorks areas. We are very fond of CLs because we have "THE BEARS"(pomeranians). The North Yorks sites are some of our favourites around Scarborough and Whitby.

Happy searching.

Hi Neil,

Just got back from a CL called Wild Slack Farm at a place called Leaholm inland from Whitby - great views and ideal with the dogs (farmer pointed out a couple of fields to use as well as a wooded walk that adjoins the site).

With two Border Collies I found that I had to stick to the Dales rather than the Moors as with Sheep on the Moors I couldn't let them run loose and boy do they hate the lead (so does my arms after a few minutes).

Have a look at www.wildslackfarm.co.uk

by the way this is one of those CL's that has a second field so you can have about 10 or so vans on site (its not a problem though).

Cheers

Jon

There's a CL on a farm just on the eastern edge of Helmsley. It is in an orchard, has mains per pitch, and (arguably) a toilet. It is a good way from any main road so is deathly quiet. TV here is superb as Bilsdale is line of sight.

Another one to try is Sutton Garden near Chesterfield. It is a short walk to Sutton Scarsdale Hall which is a (free) EH site surrounded by fields. Even though it is less than a mile (as the cow flies) from the M1 it is very quiet - it is surrounded by a 12ft brick wall. If you do go here and like your entertainment, even though from outside Chesterfield and Emley transmitters are line of sight, the wall is a pretty effective block. Sat works well of course.

Hi
after getting caught out at pretty CLs with no dog walks nearby, we now always check on Multimap and select the OS map view which shows footpaths.
