Cleaning exterior of a van

New to caravans and was wondering what the best thing to use when cleaning the exterior and if its worth polishing them like cars ie machine polish or hand polish etc. Thanks in advance

Hi Lee,

Yes it is worth polishing them, as this keeps the dreaded black streaks away a little longer. Any good car shampoo will do, but there is loads of special stuff on the market for caravans. The Fenwicks cleaners are very good and I use them. As for waxing etc. I use just a normal car wax and polish it by hand - it is quite a task to wax and polish the whole van! But it is worth it. Be careful if you use a machine to do it - the paint is not as thick as it is on a car. Also don't forget to wash the roof otherwise all the dirt will wash off down your nice clean 'van when it rains.

Thanks David I'm used to washing/polishing cars and vans but wasn't sure about caravans. Think i'll stay clear of machine polishing it tho as its skilled enough on a car.
