Cleaning fixed carpet

How do you clean your carpet? I have tried various methods but never really been happy with the results.I am not keen on using the carpet cleaner that we use for the house as I presume it could cause problems with the floor underneath.

Hi Bob,

Providing you use the carpet cleaner correctly it should be OK. Most vans have a vynil floor covering under the carpet so it should be fine. Just choose a dry day so you can leave door and windows open to aid drying.

I've used a household carpet shampooer in the caravan several times with no apparent ill effects, just don't over wet the carpets, but then that's the same advice as the manufacturers give for cleaning the carpets in the house. If possible pick a warm dry day and get the caravan door and windows open to help dry out any residual dampness.
