Cleaning the towball - advice please!

Hi

We've just picked up our new towcar - a Kia Sorrento - and my hubby reports that the towball is covered in grease. He says it's got black paint on too, which he says he needs to sandpaper off (we did this when our last towball was new). Is this right and what do we need to use to clean off the grease? I have a vague memory of reading something about brake fluid or clutch fluid or something??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as we are going away tomorrow!

To use an alko stabiliser, yes the paint and grease need to come off.

brake cleaner for the grease, fine wet and dry for the paint.
