Just got back from our 1st stay at a CS.

What great value for money these places are, up to now we have only stayed on commercial or main club sites, but this weekend decided to try a CL or CS.

Spent some time choosing one (wanted hook up, and toilet facilities) the one we picked was great, lovely quiet location, well kept, it had a couple of toilets in a newly built building, one of which also had a shower (50p) The place was great even if the weather was not good.

The commercial sites in the area where a lot more expensive, one we have stayed on before wanted £22.50 per night and had a minimum booking of 4 nights on a bank holiday, same facilities ie toilets and showers (maybe a few more toilets and a few more showers but relative to the number of caravanners and campers actually a lot less. We paid £9 per night + 50p for each shower.

Dont think we will be stopping at any more commercial sites.....

Regards

Mark

Pleased to hear you enjoyed your first visit to a CL type site

My wife and I have a CL in Suffolk We have to date not put in toilets for two reasons one is they need to be kept clean and the most important if we had this facility we would have to pay rates on the whole site. But despite this problem we have a great deal of fun running our CL, and if you saw the bunch we have this weekend you would see why. over the years we have made many new friends and we both get a great deal of pleasure from meeting people. this as well as getting an income from it.

Hi Mark

We've used several CLs this year and really love them. We usually choose ones with hook-up and occasionally with showers. One of the best things about CLs/CSs is that they are less regimented and you can pitch (usually) further apart and don't necessarily get a view of your neighbours car. The next one we are going to is at Darsham in Suffolk in about 10 days time. The website for it has some amazing pictures of the site in relation to its environs. We still like quite a large percentage of the club sites we have stayed on aswell (CC site at Doldowlod, Rhayder was fantastic over the BH weekend)but we are going through a small is beautiful faze at the moment.

We've been using CL/CS's for about 5 years now and we now don't use anything else. We even have our main fortnights holiday on them. We don't really mind whether they have facilties (shower/toilet) as we use our own in the van - all 4 of us. We find that they are more relaxed, it's cheaper, better views, better security and we have a very good time. Our two weeks in The Gower two years ago cost us
