Ime just in the process of putting items in the new caravan and wondered how do others store the ketchups, salad creams etc because on the bottles it says that they must be kept in a fridge and use after a stated period of time.. I have heard of others using sachets, but not too sure about that either

.. Obviously the fridge wont be on all the time the caravan is in storage so do i bring them home each time i leave the van after use.
Thank you
christina.

Hello Christina

Some items are safe enough to leave, but any that are perishable should be removed. It might be inconvenient, but it would be enevmore inconvenient to give someone food poisening.
Remeber that the temperature in a caravan goes up and down quicker and further than in most houses so its realy not worth the risk. Its usualy not very many items.

Hello Prof John.
Thank you for that, I would rather remove items rather than make someone ill, I think i will get small bottles of ketchup etc and fill them when required, but bring them home after every trip. The van is in full view of the sun during the day and does get very hot because there isnt any tree cover.

There really is too much reading of labels going on. A small ketchup etc left in the van is fine! It's got enough vinegar, salt and sugar in it to preserve an elephant for life!

I leave Sauce,Oil Salt and Pepper,Oxo in the bottom part of an empty ice cream container wedge with the Tea Caddy and Coffee jar But not gravy granules as they do go yukky The oil is interesting as well when its cold
