Converting Gas Fire to Gas & Electric

Hi

We have an Adria Altea 542DT (2009) model.

We wanted some advice as to whether it is possible to convert our heating which is run off the gas gas bottles). We would like to know if it is possible to convert it to both gas and electric. We will be caravanning all year round and this will be our first year using the caravan in the Winter. The cost of running the heating off the gas bottles, will prove to be very expensive. As the hook up to the electric on most sites is included in your site fees, this would prove a much more economical way if we were were to convert the heater. The heater is the standard truma caravan heater, that is standard is most caravans.

Many thanks for all your help.

Hi Sam, Yes you should be able to fit a Truma ultraheat to your room heater, the problem you may find though is on some foriegn vans there is not enough room at the back of the installation box for the ultraheat's control box due to the position of the blown air ducting, so check first, I've had a couple this year where it has been impossible to fit because of the location of thse pipes. Probably why it's not been fitted in the first place.
