Copper thieves at work!

The same issue is happening in other areas and homes are also being targeted. See https://www.worcesternews.co.uk/news/24965395.lidl-ev-chargers-sawn-off-copper-hunting-thieves/ I would have thought that selling the copper cable would arise suspicions if sold to a scrap dealer?
I guess it makes a change from stealing Network Rail trackside cabling and catalytic converters. A bit naive of the police to advise charging the car out of site given most properties have their drive at the front or side of the house and an EV or PHEV are quite recognisable.

The law was changed a few years back to make it more difficult for scrap dealers to pay out cash in hand. But there’s always ways to circumvent procedures.
