Hi - I've just had a quote for motor insurance from Cornhill through Autodirect - the quote seems very reasonable over the phone and is over £100 cheaper than my present company (went through the internet "Confused" site). Has anybody any experience of dealing with either the broker or the insurance company?

Not heard any major bad things about them - they do specialise in the GI (general insurance) market which is Car/house plans.

Nothing wrong in that but other providers also offer Assurance, investments, etc so their exposure in the financial markets is a bit limited.

But this would only be a problem if they were suddenly exposed to a rush of claims or a financial crisis of any other kind as they may not have the financial resourses to cross subsidise.

Just bear in mind that there is no such thing as a free lunch. If they are too cheap - there is a reason.

Privilege were the cheapest quote I had for the car, but then I discovered we ought to have business cover class2 and had a brilliant quote from quotea, literally hundreds of pounds less than anyone else's business cover.
