Shoes off and stand in the shower and try it for size, it looks big enough to me!!

Having the toilet on the awning side is not a problem for us as we only use a Fiamma Zip. A full awning on a van that size would be huge, heavy, and too much trouble for the type of touring we do (generally no more than 10 nights anywhere, usually more like 5).

But for us, the most compelling reason to go for the Searcher was to get the Alde heating.

One thing about the Aldi heating what's it like filling it after winterization, if its like house hold central heating systems can be a pig of a job.

Calling at our dealers here today to have another look at the searcher, wife's working so she will see it again on Saturday, then it will be decision time do we buy now or wait until end of this year for bargains or go for 2011 van early next year

No,no, there is no winterisation of the (space) heating, it is filled with 50% antifreeze, so no refilling. You only need to check it is full enough every so often. The WATER heating side is drained down as part of the water system however.

The (space) heating can be run without the water system being filled. We keep our van at home so have it hooked up all the time and run the heating on 1kw on minimum temp (5 degrees C) all winter. Keeps the water pipes from freezing up and keeps the cold damp air at bay.

Thanks Jennifer for the info, taking the wife to see the van this weekend but l am sure l will wait for 2011 van now vat looks to stay the same, the dealer where we are has only one left and can't get no more 2010 vans has most of them were sold at the Feb show.

l can travel and get one further a field but don't want that inconvenience of having to take it back for faults, still you never know she may persuade me to buy on Saturday at our local dealer, but we are a little away on price for mine plus we would need the bigger mover which is another

If you are ordering for next year, do it about the end of October to be sure it comes before Easter.

Getting it from somewhere near is best. We don't have many dealers up here, our nearest is 28 miles, about an hour door to door. Just had its 2nd service and a few things done under warranty.

Jennifer by any chance do you have a mover on the van, on the Firestar l have a Truma S, looking at the one for the Searcher it looks like only the Truma TLSE will do the job, all others seem only to offer up to 1700KG for twin axles, where has the Truma is 2000KG and above.

Yes, we have the Truma TE. We did not want the weight of a 4 wheel mover such as the Reich. We did get the weight of the Searcher uprated to 1900 kg to cover the Mover, Air Conditioning and various bits and pieces we fitted, so these do not restrict our payload.

It certainly does not turn as tight as a 4 wheel one, but does what we need. We keep our van on our drive and need it to go nose first up a 1 in 10 slope. We have plenty of width, but the drive is only a little longer than the van.

Thanks Jennifer you have been a saint with all your information, thanks for answering all my queries.

We have decided to wait until next year when hopefully the wife retires,at the moment we can't make our mind up between the Searcher which l prefer until the wife has looked the Swift 630 has she has changed her mind on the interior (you know what you ladies are like, first one dress then the other) but l am sure it will be one of the Swift makes has we have owned two and have been pleased with both.

Once again thank you for your help.
