Away near Witney. Thought we'd go to Blenheim palace. Cheapest ticket to enter £41 each!!!! There loss as we went to the Ashmolean in Oxford, £5 on the park and ride for us both. The museum is free with a request for a £10 donation.

We were visiting Lackham /Lacock where there is NT Lacock House. As we came out of the pub we saw the large board with entry prices. I forget what they were but we both thought what a financial hit for a couple with kids. Plus parking too.

That’s very interesting. We were there three weeks ago. The house itself was shut , but small. The Abbey , Grounds and the Talbot Museum plus both cafes were open..
We thought it was pretty cheap by National Trust pricing. £32.50 for two adults and three kids. Parking is included. As Members we enjoy free entry to all sites including Scotland . I do feel uneasy with the NT very Woke attitude. But their properties are well worth the visit and explore.

Thanks, didn’t realise the parking was included as we use the Red Lion/residents car park. Was the £32.5 just for those entries excluding the house? We have just rejoined Westonbirt as three visits puts us in profit.
We are due to go to Longleat CMC site on Friday for shakedown trip in the van after winter, didn't even look at the prices to go into the house and grounds

I think we worked out a few years ago by joining and then visiting three properties we would break even.

For anyone considering joining the National Trust to avoid the entry fees, note that it's usually cheaper to join the Scottish National Trust and use the reciprocal membership benefits - you don't need to live there to join - even cheaper to join the National Trust for a Commonwealth country, eg New Zealand, but then currency exchange is involved
We have kept our NT Wetlands trust and English heritage membership up for many years. Made massive use of all when we had the caravan. Now not so much but we still will well get our monies worth. But as they are such good causes it does not bother me.
This week we plan to visit Witley court and gardens, Goodrich Castle and possibly Durham Park.

We did a Blenheim tour in November last year and felt as if the house (privately owned) had picked us up by the ankles and shaken us to get as much money out as possible. The House tour was pathetic; you see about 11 rooms, and if you take your time it takes a whole 20 minutes. The Churchill part took another 20 minutes...
In our case they were installing an Ice Rink to rip more people off over Christmas, and we had to park about half a mile walk from the house in a muddy field.
The contrast was particularly stark as a couple of days before we'd been to Windsor Castle, which is several hours of engaging content with an excellent free multi media style guide. It was our 2nd visit within 12 months, so we got in for free having paid £56 previously.

Blenheim Palace tickets are actually annual passes giving you entry to the Palace, Gardens and a vast parkland containing many walks.
There is also free entry to a number of special events throughout the year.
Restaurants, cafes and facilities are first class.
IMO.......expensive for a single visit but not if you are local enough to visit several times.

I do agree that Blenheim is overpriced. We have been there a few times and enjoyed our visits. A saving grace is that your ticket allows for you to go back for the year. Only any good if you are reasonably local. 1 hour 15 mins for us and we only made it back once with our ticket.
When the CAMC had a site there it was a nice visit. A few years back 2017, we visited as they were preparing for the wedding of the daughter of the richest black lady in Africa. 3 Lorry’s full of flowers being delivered from Holland. Massive marquee with a £5,000 dance floor circle, singer flown in from the states. Etc.

It’s not unexpected that Blenheim prices are sky high as they have to recoup the cost of their recent plumbing problem 🚽
Last time we visited was for the Gamefair, and traffic from the Oxford end of the A420 was horrendous, but once inside we had a really good day, and even the dogs enjoyed the socialisation.I do agree that Blenheim is overpriced. Can I suggest giving Witley Court a miss for now. Much better to go in the warmer months. Also are you aware that you can park quite close to the court otherwise it is one mother of a walk to get to the building. The chapel and fountains are well worth the visit, but I don't the foundations are working at present?
Do not have anything to drink for more than an hour before a visit as no toilets except by the cafe and that is quite a hike from the main building. We live about 3 miles from Witley Court, but only went to visit it for the first time last year.
Would love to see Blenheim Palace my wife would be in her element me I be sat outside waiting, but like what every one says we are not local it roughly 3hrs + from home
