Hi there. I`ve just come back to caravanning after a break of some years. I own a Cotswold Windrush 2 berth. I know they`re not made anymore, but does anyone have any information on where and when they were built. Quite a few years ago, I also owned a rare make of caravan. A Bendix Dart 4 berth. It was built in 1986, by Bendix Caravans in Essex, and I only ever saw one other one. Anyone know anything about these as well. I can find nothing on the `net, so any info would be welcome.

Brian,

We owned a 78 Windrush and a 87 Windrush. They were true coachbuilt caravans, not on a production line but hand built on one spot in the factory.

They were built just outside Immingham towards Grimsby.

The ski lockers on either side, for gas one side and electrics on the other side was a good idea.

The 87 model, wich we bought new, had one piece fibreglass roof.

The hinging was all piano hinging.

Cotswold also made a more luxurious still model called the Celeste in 13 and 15 feet lengths. This model had Aldi wet central heating.

Swift bought the Cotswold name and producd "Swift Cotswolds" for a couple of years. Mass produced and nothing like the quality of the coachbuilt true Cotswolds.

Thanks for that information. Looks as though we`ve brought our Windrush back to where it was made then.
