Used to be a really nice CL at Cullompton with hook-up, toilet & shower, but I wouldn`t stop overnight for that distance, just get there and enjoy the holiday, its an easy run.

hi angus, craig gets really tired towing and it would take at least 6 hours with all the stops for the kids, dog and us. we have done this run before and it took him days to get over it. i just thought having a stop, just over half way, then get up in the morning and leave about 9.30/10.00am to get there about midday.

craig would rather drive through and get it over and done with but hes is knackered for days.

just a thought really.

Can you share the driving, leave early morning say 4.00am. have breakfast on the way down and atch the sun rise over Cornwall?

Terri only learnt to tow last year. She is happy and safe at it so that really helps us both.

Enjoy.

Cheers

Alan

Jo-anne, can`t remember the name of the site, but is possibly listed under `Kentisbeare`, just off J28 of the M5, about 20 - 30 minutes north of Exeter.

We stopped there many years ago for an overnighter, but would happily stopped a week.

Hi Jo-anne, There is a nice CC site just off the road to Newton Abbot on the A38 between Exeter and Plymouth, if you are going that way. It is near to Trago Mills. I don't like the place personally (Trago that is) but it does have cheap deals for the area.

If you go the other way, Exeter - Bodmin on the A30 then you are looking at somewhere near Bodmin Moor, which can be a bit bleak if the weather is poor.

The CC site I mention will be on their website and is only about 1 mile from the A38 near to a country park.

I think Alex is thinking of Stover CC site. Nice site, handy for refuelling in Newton Abbott (Tesco). We're booked in there again this year for an overnight - used it year before last and it worked very well.

Hi Jo-anne

I wish I had a mum like you. My old mum always had us boys up at 6.30am!

How many hours do you want to travel on day one? Or miles for that matter. Seems Lord B's Cadeside is your best bet. About halfway.

Cheers

Yes Ian is correct, it is Stover. I drove from Solihull once to Plymouth, took about 4 hours with van on the back. Steady 55-60 all the way.

Good thing about going that way into Cornwall is you don't pay on Tamar Bridge going in, only out. Also Cornwall does not wake up til about 10am, when they realise it's pasty time.

Hi Jo-anne,

We break the journey at either the Caravan Club site at Tiverton which is about half a mile from the M5 between Bristol and Exeter, or the Exeter Racecourse Caravan Club site half a mile off the A38 at Exeter. At either site you do not need to go more than half a mile off route, both have good dog walks.

Both are full facility.

Minnows is just up the road from me and is perfect for an overnight stop. I would book early as i think most people use it for overnights. Its about 2 minutes from junction 27 on the M5.

The pub is called The Globe, and is a walk along the canal path, there is another pub opposite. The village also has a farm shop and golf driving range also. 10 minutes up the road there is a "Diggerland" theme park if you have any kiddies.
