Crazing on windows - does it matter?

We have a 2000 model Elddis Cyclone GTX which has developed a couple of areas of crazing (very small cracks) on the two small front windows, the main area of which is perfectly circular and about 3 - 4 inches in diameter.

The crazing only affects the inner pane and we were wondering, firstly - does it matter? and, secondly - what can be done about it?

We only bought the 'van a couple of months ago - is this the sort of thing that should be covered by the warranty?

Thanks for any advice.

Rupert,

A circular area of crazing about 3 to 4 inches in diameter?

That was caused by previous owner "sticking" a caravan owners club or similar plastic badges onto the window, and the solvent in the badge has affected the plastic.

Caravan plastic windows are susceptible to crazing by the residual solvents found in a number of plastic products.

The damage was caused by the previous owner in the same way that they caused stone chips in the paint or marks on the cooker - through use and ownership - and I doubt if you'd get very far with a warranty claim.

Does it matter? It's not going to affect the water-proof nature of the window, but eventually it may just possibly cause the inner skin to fail - so you could investigate a repair kit and then stick your own badge over the offending area.
