Don't go to Croatia expecting quiet, small family-run campsites. Most sites there are a legacy of the former Communist era, often with well over 1000 pitches. Croatia is also in the grips of the Dutch and Germans so it pays to not have any problems in that respect. There are also very few sandy beaches. So much for the negative side. Otherwise, Croatia has a lot going for it - relatively cheap, generally good weather, lots of picturesque old towns both along the coast and inland.

Lutz is correcy in what he says, but when we were at camp Laterna in May/June'07 it felt as if we were all alone. With a 1000 pitches and a mile from the gate to the end of the site it will be diferent in July/ Aug. A quiet site away from the coast is Camping Slapic at Duga Resa nr. Karlovac and we will be there in Sept. This year we plan to spend more time inland away from the more touristy places
