Dacia Duster 4 x 4

So here goes!

I have just purchased a slightly larger caravan, max weight 1295kg and am currently using my Vivaro van, but would like to go back to a car, I’ve been looking at the Dacia Duster 4x4, which has a max tow weight of 1500kg

My question is, will the Duster be OK to tow my new caravan if I add things like bikes on the rear hatchback and also paddle boards.

I‘ve tried to find a basic weight calculator but nothing seems to exist, hence me asking you specialists.

Thank you.

There was a member (Jezzer) who successfully towed a large caravan with a Duster. Probably weighing more than most would recommend. Try a search using Dacia Duster and Jezzer.

You could look at Towcar.info which I consider one of the best matching sites. It gives some good estimates which I’ve found remarkably good on my last three tow cars.
Regarding the other stuff you plan to carry it’s difficult to advise as only you know what the total payload going into the car will be. Fir starters look at the kerbweight of the car which in line with general guidance would see the caravan MTPLM at 85% of kerbweight for those new to towing caravans. But so many other things affect the stability of an out fit that weight ratio is only one.

There seem to be a wide selection of trim levels and engine (according to Parker’s Guide online) so do you have a particular car in mind?

The Dacia Duster 4x4 has a kerbweight of 1439kg so you would be towing at 90% which I think is acceptable for an experienced tower like yourself.

The kerbweight of the particular car in question is most probably greater than any published data so the actual weight ratio will even be less than 90%.
