I thought caravans had been around for a couple of centuries? After all a covered wagon was a caravan plus camel caravans have existed for probably thousands of years? :woohoo:

My first caravan in 1978 was very basic bar one thing.
It had a gas hot water heater for the sink. Continuous hot water! Only now Alde are selling preheaters for “continuous”hot water showers,.
In my youth a tent came first then we aspired to a caravan as more cash rolled in. Today I doubt many caravanners were ever campers

That was a very modern caravan. Our first experience of a caravan was when my father hired one in 1965. I am sure it was a Capstan caravan. It had gas lights, a small fridge with an icebox that could only hold the ice tray. No running water. A few years later when doing some survey work at a remote location I lived in a similar caravan called a CI caravan. Again no running water and only gas lights etc. Seats were thin foam but being young didn't really noticed as sat in a deck chair outside when not working. :cheer:
