Dairy products in France

Copied from another forum:

"At the present french dairy farmers are blockading the dairies, don't know whether this is a national thing or just in this region, last week we couldn't get onto the supermarket car parks and couldn't get milk, this week as they are blockading the dairies it's effecting all dairy products, I managed to get milk yesterday but no eggs and the supermarket shelves are a bit bare, I got eggs this morning from the local market, so anyone coming over soon make sure you bring plenty with you, don't know how long this dispute will go on for but will keep you informed of any changes . "

We came back from France on 26th May - and saw nothing mentioned of this at all. I'm not sure where this is supposed to have happened, but there was plenty of milk, eggs, cheese, and other dairy products in all the supermarkets we visited. It sounds like a very local dispute to me.

No problems seen near Agde in the last week. Weather perfect as well, back for another bike ride along the Canal - its a hard life!!!

Enjoy your holidays,

Trevor M

We are in Brittany now and have been for past 3 weeks and have not seen any shortages. weather is lovely and cheese and wine even better!

So that's why I have been unable to get fresh milk for the past two weeks. Travelled to Haliotis in Brittany, Royan, Limoges and had to manage with long life stuff. Finally managed to get fresh milk at Hyper U when we were in Saumur on Wednesday last week. Did not have any problems with eggs and cheese.
