damp problem

hello all,

my question is for some advice, a friend of mine paid £4000.00 for a second hand caravan only a week ago and as found signs of damp after paying cash, he then whent back to demand his money back and the guy refused instead offering my friend a token £250.00 to recompence him,my friend then whent to obtain an estimate for repairs to the affected area and was told it would cost £2000.00 to repair, does my friend have a case for his money back or is it a case of bad luck

Brian, depends whether he bought from a dealer or privately, and EXACTLY how the van was described.

The Sale of Goods Acts do not apply to private sellers, but giving false descriptions of goods does apply, and recourse can be obtained.
