Damp repair hole

Hello I was wondering if anyone could help me. Our Bailey pegasus caravan has been damp repaired. Paid £580 for damp to be fixed only to find out by another service man that no work had been done. It had only been painted. We got the man back out to fix the damp which he should of done in first place. However now it's done it has left a hole in the back corner. The man said this is ventilation hole. I don't think this is correct. If someone could clarify for me please.

Your "Repair man" is talking out of something other than his mouth! That is a totally ludicrous thing for him to alledge.
Personally I dont like the look of the sidewalls either side of that "Ventilation" point, looks suspiciously like rot to me, the bead of silicone sealant along the joint also rings alarm bells.

Total rubbish, the guy is conning you. I’d talk to Trading Standards as he’s plainly incompetent and verging on fraud, and a danger should he do work elsewhere on a caravan.

Thanks for replying. This is the "fixed"job he said he has done. He glued the lino back down so we couldn't see anything. We pulled it back to find this. Total rot.
Then he came back after we rang him and went mad. Apologize for not carrying out the work correctly came and fixed it again (second picture). And left a so call ventilation hole. I have young children and a newborn baby. This is right under the back bunk bed. I really don't know what to do.

It’s still a totally an unsatisfactory repair. Tell him you want your money back or you will report him to Trading Standards. Then get a AWS Approved Workshop Scheme technician to survey the damp and give you a price to do the job properly.

The following link and lots of others on YouTube will explain why and how Alu Tec Baileys suffer water ingress. What you have shown is the result of the water ingress. Not where or how the water got in !

Where are you?
There are some excellent people around the U.K. who can repair your caravan.

Thankyou that is very helpful. I had no idea where the water is getting in from. I asked the man who was doing the repair and he said he didnt know. I am going to have to pay someone who knows what they are doing to take a good look and repair for me. I live in Sunderland. Hope this isn't going to cost a fortune. Thanks for all you help

The man who done all this to my caravan is on the approved workshop list. On the link you have sent me. Unfortunately looks like more people will use him and end up like me

Then you should use the AWS complaints procedure. It has no statutory basis but it is there to resolve issues. Here’s the link. I know it wouldn’t be attractive to you but a complaint via Trading Standards might carry more weight, or advise him that you will take your case to the Small Claims Court under Consumer Rights Act 2015. If you paid by credit card you could take it up with your card provider as CCA Section 75 gives protection. Not a good position to be in. Good luck.

It will be useful if you shop around caravan repairers in the NE.
I found this one
They get good write ups. You will find others.
There are others but being in the SW I have no personal knowledge.
Good luck and if you have time please let us know how you get on.

If the OP is planning to seek to recoup her money best not to proceed with a repair unless there is sufficient evidence that shows what botched job was carried out. A good repair center should help in that direction.
