I believe I am the same as ever.

You called me a bigot and sarcastic which was out of character for you.

As for the highlighted script! Sorry but I feel that was well deserved considering you said one thing re the destructiveness of wind farms then made out you said nothing of the sort. As for saying you published the sites without reading the content!!! - you left yourself wide open to my then quoting something I had bothered to read some time ago and was able to retrieve!!

I may be opinionated - I may be blunt - (often cited under the positive section in past works appraisals) But I believe in airing the facts as researched.

The difficulty you seem to have is seeing that when in an earlier post "the jury is still out on windfarms" - I said this knowing that the RSPB was supporting windfarms but in the right place.

You just said they were destructive - The RSPB have a diferent opinion - My feelings do not come into it.

Oh yes Clive you got that right mate, you are the same as ever lmaooooo, but dont come the play on words with me please because anyone with a brain cell can read through you. Answer me this... if I knew what those sites said would I have posted them for you to do your usual and go over them with a fine toothcomb and copy/paste from them to prove I was wrong. There is a difference in saying windfarms are destructive which you would like others to believe I said and they are destructive to birds which I actually said. I will say this one more time to see if it sinks in, I put into Google "windfarms-migratory birds" not sure in which order then posted the first links. At no time did I look at those links, I posted them for others to look at to make up their own minds like you did yourself. That is why it came a surprise at your next posting (although I should have known better) after me just posting some links. My last post on the matter so blah! blah! blah! Clive heheheh!

Come on chaps a little misunderstanding on both sides, it happens when the only way to communicate is by the written word. Lets not have two of the most prolific and entertaining contributors on this site fall out.

LB - I am not sure what is going on with you right now!

You say you just "googled" the subject to get some links?

Do you really think that the rest of us are incapable of doing the same?

You post saying catagorically that "You know that they are destructive to migratory birds and raptors like Sea Eagles"

I say the "Jury is still" out because of the RSPB article I have posted details of.

You post a series of sites that support your view.

I post the actual views of the RSPCA.

You go off on one.

Lol the voice of reason as ever.

I really am bemused at this.

Surely when someone says "What I do know is that they are destructive to migratory birds etc" and the leading authority on Birds in the UK actualy supports the Government initiative on Wind Farms and all I do is state their view as an alternative to LB's, it hardly warrents my being labeled a Bigot and being sarcastic?

What hapened to the adult debate and banter?

Sorry - LB I think it has got cross wired with your logic and sense of humour circuits.

Sorry my friend but you seem a little "out of salts" of late.

Clive it always starts out as a debate, but it can degenerate into something else quite quickly, I know, I had my "little episode" earlier in the week. Like I said, you might be sitting there with the best intentions with a wink in the eye when you're typing, but it can read differently from another's perspective. Not on anyone's side here, I'm not well enough informed, I just think it's a good idea if someone can call time on a debate before it goes wrong. It is late in the day and it's easy to escalate (been dieing to use that word) differences when your tired.

Steady on now - there is a lot that I will do for a fellow caravanner - but that is certainly not one of them.

Happy to let it go now.

NO DISRESPECT LB - PLEASE! But I would never, ever publish any extract that I had not read. Not my work ethic - i.e. I could not do it, would not do it, so had dificulty is believing someone else would.

Clive, I have asked you if you could provide information that would show that RSPB are not NIMBYS but you have not done so.

Are you able to provide information of what the 76 objections represented as a % of the total applications. You also mention they had reservations on neary 200 more, what does this represent as a %?

The debate is interesting but just quoting figures without some details to back them up does not help people like myself who wish to understand where you and LB are coming from.

I suppose like a lot of people I believe that wind turbines may be a good idea in principle but in this great country of ours we will turn it into an expensive white elephant. Please convince me I am wrong. Many thanks if you can help. Ray

Hi Ray

You want me to set out the RSPB's views and statistics!

And if I do so LB takes it as a personal affront!

Forgive me for being reticent Ray but after the debacle last night I can only suggest you try "googling" the subject as I fear anything I now post on here will cause offence to some poor overly sensitive soul!! JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously tho' - you ask a sensible question and I now ask if you if you have read the article I quoted? I am not trying to duck the issue but apart from being a supported of the RSPB and a bit of a "twitcher" myself I can not speak for the RSPB and do not have the specific info you seek but I am sure you can get it from them.

I do not believe the RSPB are "NIMBYS" on the issue of Windfarms because every publication they produce on the subject clearly states that the wholeheartedly support the introduction. They just want it (them) in the right place(s)!

For Ref - http://www.rspb.org.uk/policy/windfarms/index.asp

From there you can trawl around their site and get most of the info you seek. In particular their leaflet:-

http://www.rspb.org.uk/Images/Windfarmsandbirds_tcm5-51248.pdf
is especially useful.

At the risk of being "shot at" - (again!) I especially support the RSPB stance on AVGAS - Aircraft fuel.

The average jet passenger aircraft uses more fuel in one flight than I could possibly use in a lifetime of use of my vehicle regardless of it being a 4x4 or not! And do not forget I am an advocate of LPG - one of the cleanest fuels currently available.

A passenger jet spews out pollution that is injected straight into the atmosphere.

And yet you and I pay 80% fuel tax on what we put into our vehicles. Avgas is exempt from any taxation.

Ever thought why Ferry journeys cannot compete that well with air travel? Because Ferry operators have to pay fuel tax.

But what the hell - I fly to Oz for six weeks in '07. But that will be OK with the "Anti's" because my Discovery and the wifes Freelander will not be used during that time.

Mind you - could be worth letting my two sons use them!

Joke? - possibly

Ray - You say that "I mention" as tho' I am the author - please note that I am not - the figures are directly from the RSPB article I quoted.
